The new album has arrived! - September 27, 2007

Well the new album has finally arrived. We are really proud of this new release, which was recorded over the last year or so in Tallahassee at Log Cabin Studio, http://www.logcabinmusic.com . We recorded some of the tracks live in the studio, all together in one room, as a complete performance, bleed and all, and for others we utilized the full capacity that a multi-track studio allows.

We had several special guests grace the album with their incredible tones and talents.

Matt Grondin from Jacksonville (http://www.incamaya.com) layed down some RIPPIN’ guitar work on the track Jamcruisin’. Also appearing on Jamcruisin’ is an incredible bassist, Andrew Altman, who now tours with the Codetalkers (http://www.thecodetalkers.com/) He played a deep moog synth part on the track.

Jess Franklin (http://www.tishamingo.com) played some real heartfelt slide on the track Friends.

Of course our often absent, behind the scenes “fifth Black Out”, Tony G. (www.myspace.com/ancientharmony), played searing B3/Leslie on ALL the tracks.

Also, Dillon Bradley-Brown rocked the drums on two tracks, Jamcruisin’ and Wearin’ Out Women.

The album was mastered by Terry Manning http://www.terrymanning.com http://www.compasspointstudios.com) in beautiful Nassau, Bahamas. Terry Manning is at this very moment Producing/Engineering the upcoming Widespread Panic album. Apparently he HAD to put that on hold just so he could work on OUR project ;-)

Finally big props to Alan Alovus, Full Black Out’s full time Art Director. Hope you all get a kick out of his work!

For a short time we are selling the new CD direct (through Paypal) for $10 including shipping.

There's a Paypal "Buy Now" button/link on our Merch page: http://www.fullblackout.com/products.html or just click it here:

The official release is October 12th at Yianni's (Tallahassee). We expect to have lots of special guests such as Chili Pepper and the Soular System Horns, Tony G. on Organ, Tucker from Stillwood, Casey from Catfish Alliance, and Dave Kelsay from the Dirty Robots.

Also check Vinyl Fever (Monday Oct. 1st or later) for a copy of the new CD if you just can't wait until the 12th.

Taylor Hicks sighting! - June 13, 2006

At the FBO show at Harbor Docks in Destin this last weekend, the band noticed a big commotion… a lot of girls with cameras flashing huddled around a table. After a set break and a quick investigation we realized that it was good ol’ Taylor Hicks, the newly crowned American Idol winner, stealing the show!

After our good buddy Captain Pat made the introductions, we proceeded to bring Taylor up on stage for a nice little encore, playing some Skynyrd (the Breeze) The Band (The Weight) and another tune.

It was a real treat for us, and the audience too for that matter.

Gotta give Taylor big props for bringing the roots rock into the pop realm and stealing the whole show. What a great showman! We’re big fans.

FBO - Heros? Or maybe just the right place at the right time... - February 10, 2006

After the gig in Jacksonville, the band rolled over to an after party. As we were about to enter the house, we spotted a flame 1/4 mile down the road and through some trees. Kind of looked like a tiki torch or something, but it appeared to get larger by the second.

Bakari and Kip (and also good buddy Lee and new friend well call random party girl) ran down to have a look. Sure enough, there was a garage on fire and it was getting larger by the second!

Kip ran to the front door and knocked while Bakari and friends ran around the back to get a closer look. When no one answered the front door, Kip wiggled the door handle to find that it was open. He opened the door to find a middle aged and quite round woman buck naked in the living room...

After a short moment of amazement (you don't see that every day!) Kip yelled, "The garage is on fire!" The lady freaked out and proceded to run back and forth, not really knowing what to do... So Kip took immediate action.

He shouted, "Where's a fire extinguisher?!?".

At that point, out popped the husband, John, from the bedroom. They didn't know where one was, so Kip directed John to grab the garden hose and start battling the fire, while he searched the kitchen for a fire extinguisher. After less than a moments pause he continued, "And for goodness sake lady, go put a robe on!"

Bakari and Lee had 911 on the line and the fire department was on the way... After grabbing her robe, the lady ran out the back and started blaming John for leaving the Grill on.

She then yelled at us all, "Get back the whole place is gonna blow!!!" "That garage is full of gas!"

John wasn't making much headway with the hose, but at this point the sirens could be heard in the distance.

We'll Kip realized he still had his beer in his hand so he took a sip, grabbed Bakari and friends, and slinked back to the party... a job well done!

The Jax firemen showed up within probably 3 minutes and doused the place proper... We think we definately saved 2 houses (and at least 4 people), and there was a possibility of a 3rd going up as well. Good Times!!!

Moral of the story: It's vitally important to have an afterparty after a good show... oh... and also MAKE SURE YOUR HOME HAS A FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!!
